Importing contacts
The CSV import wizard, step by step.
Click Import from the Audience page to bring in contacts from a CSV file.
1. Upload
Drag and drop or click to choose a .csv file (up to 50MB). A Download sample CSV link shows the expected format. If you're close to your plan's contact limit, a warning banner appears with usage numbers and an Upgrade Plan shortcut, better to know before the import fails partway through.
2. Map columns
Match each column in your file to a Peleka field: Email Address (required), First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Timezone, Status, Tags (comma-separated), any existing custom field, Create Custom Field... for a new one, or Skip Column. You can't continue until a column is mapped to Email Address.
3. Tags
Optionally toggle Add Tags to apply one or more tags to every contact in this import, handy for keeping track of where a batch came from (imported-2026-conference, for example).
4. Review
A preview table shows your first five rows mapped exactly as they'll be imported. Before you can proceed, you must check:
"I confirm that all contacts in this file have explicitly granted me permission to send them marketing emails. I understand that importing purchased or third-party lists is strictly prohibited and violates the Terms of Service."
This isn't a formality. Peleka enforces it, and importing a purchased or scraped list is a fast way to get your sending domain's reputation (and your account) in trouble.
5. Done
Large imports process in the background; you'll get a confirmation email once it's finished rather than waiting on the page.
Consent isn't optional
Only import contacts who've actually agreed to hear from you. Peleka's suppression and deliverability systems (and your inbox placement) depend on your audience being genuinely opted in. See Deliverability best practices.
