Connecting your store
Link Shopify or WooCommerce to sync customers, orders, and carts into Peleka.
Connecting your store is what turns Peleka from a generic email tool into one that knows who bought what. Once connected, Shopify and WooCommerce both power the same set of features:
- Contacts are created/updated automatically from customers, with marketing consent respected.
- Orders and abandoned checkouts become events on a contact's timeline, and can trigger automations (
order_placed,abandoned_cart). - Eight smart segments are generated automatically and kept up to date.
- The email builder's Product block can pull live title, price, image, and URL from your catalog.
Connect from Settings → Integrations
Go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect Shopify, or open the Peleka app directly from your Shopify admin. Enter your store handle (your-store.myshopify.com) if prompted.
Approve access
Peleka requests read-only access: read_customers, read_orders, and read_checkouts. It never writes to your store, changes products, or touches orders.
Let the initial sync finish
You'll see a progress list while Peleka works through your store:
- Importing customers from Shopify
- Syncing order history
- Creating smart segments
- Setting up real-time webhooks
This usually takes 1–3 minutes for the visible steps; large catalogs keep syncing in the background afterward.
Settings → Integrations: Shopify connected, showing sync stats
Screenshot coming soonWhat gets synced
- Customers: email, name, phone, and marketing consent. Only customers who accepted marketing at checkout become
subscribedcontacts by default (see the consent filter below). - Orders: synced incrementally, and in real time via webhooks after the first sync. Each order creates an
order_placedevent and can trigger automations. - Abandoned checkouts: become an
abandoned_cartevent, and can create a new (subscribed) contact if the shopper wasn't already one. - A full re-sync runs automatically every 6 hours to catch anything a webhook missed.
Marketing consent filter
Settings → Integrations → Shopify includes a "Only sync customers who accepted marketing at checkout" toggle. It's on by default and recommended; turning it off imports every customer regardless of consent, which is a deliverability risk. You'll see a warning if you disable it.
Auto-generated smart segments
| Segment | Definition |
|---|---|
| Recent Buyers | Ordered in the last 30 days |
| Cart Abandoners | Abandoned a cart in the last 7 days |
| First-Time Buyers | Exactly 1 order |
| Repeat Customers | 2+ orders |
| VIP Customers | 3+ orders and $300+ total spend |
| Lapsed Customers | Last order 30–90 days ago |
| Winback | Last order 90+ days ago |
| Inactive Customers | Subscribed, never purchased |
These are managed by the integration: you can use them anywhere segments are used, but they're read-only. Click Refresh Segments in Settings → Integrations if counts look stale.
Disconnecting
Disconnecting removes the auto-generated smart segments but does not delete your contacts. If you uninstall the Peleka app from Shopify entirely, Shopify requires (and Peleka implements) a full data redaction of Shopify-sourced contact data within 48 hours.
Not on Shopify or WooCommerce?
You can still use every core feature of Peleka (broadcasts, automations, forms, segments) without an e-commerce integration. Purchase-based triggers, revenue analytics, and the smart segments above simply won't be available until you connect a store. Zapier and Webflow integrations are on the roadmap; see Integrations for what's available today.
