Shopify integration

Access & permissions

Peleka requests read-only scopes: read_customers, read_orders, read_checkouts. It cannot modify products, orders, or any other data in your store. Installation uses Shopify's managed installation (token exchange) flow, so access is granted the moment you open the embedded Peleka app from your Shopify admin, with no separate OAuth redirect to babysit.

Sync behavior

Customers sync with their email marketing consent state; only customers who accepted marketing at checkout become subscribed contacts by default (configurable: see the consent filter below).
Orders sync incrementally after the first full sync, and in real time afterward via registered webhooks (ORDERS_CREATE). Each order creates an order_placed contact event that can trigger automations.
Abandoned checkouts sync via CHECKOUTS_CREATE/CHECKOUTS_UPDATE webhooks and create an abandoned_cart event, including creating a new subscribed contact if the shopper wasn't already one, with source: shopify_cart.
A full re-sync of customers, orders, and abandoned checkouts runs automatically every 6 hours, which also re-registers webhooks if that step ever failed silently.
APP_UNINSTALLED is handled automatically: disconnecting your Peleka app from Shopify clears the stored access token and disconnects the integration on Peleka's side too.

Sync settings

From Settings → Integrations → Shopify:

Sync into segment: send synced contacts into "All Subscribers" or a specific segment of your choosing.
Marketing consent filter: on by default. Only imports customers who accepted marketing at checkout. Turning this off imports every customer regardless of consent, and Peleka shows a deliverability warning if you do, since sending to non-consenting contacts is a fast way to spike complaint rates.

Product data in the email builder

The Product block in the email and form builders searches your live Shopify catalog for title, price, image, and URL (cached for 60 seconds, with a short stale-data fallback if Shopify itself is rate-limiting requests).

Auto-generated smart segments

Recent Buyers, Cart Abandoners, First-Time Buyers, Repeat Customers, VIP Customers, Lapsed Customers, Winback, and Inactive Customers. See the full table in Connecting your store.

Peleka implements all three of Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks:

customers/data_request: compiles the customer's data and raises an in-app Compliance notification so you can review and deliver it within Shopify's 30-day window. See Data subject requests.
customers/redact: automatically redacts that customer's personal data from Peleka.
shop/redact: triggered on app uninstall; fully disconnects the integration and redacts Shopify-sourced contact data within 48 hours.

Disconnecting

Disconnecting removes the auto-generated smart segments but does not delete your contacts; they simply stop being kept in sync with Shopify going forward.
